You weren't, by chance, expecting Colin Firth?
  If so, sorry to disappoint.

Kittycat

Yesterday, Julie posted about dogs on the furniture, and today I've decided that cats should have equal time. I happen to have two: Mr. Darcy and Lizzie Bennet (clearly I have a bit of a thing for Jane Austen. I've read Pride and Prejudice every year since I was 13. But enough about that for now).

My cats more or less have free reign of the house – chairs, sofas, beds, and such. But being fairly well-mannered felines (dare I say gracious?), they've never explored the kitchen counters and know they're not allowed on the dining room table. Thus imagine my surprise when I received an email with the above image from a photographer who had been shooting in my house while I was at the office. There was my Mr. Darcy, posing so handsomely on the dining room table, fully aware that he was defying house rules and no doubt laughing about it on the inside. Was he lured with catnip or is this how Mr. Darcy really hangs out when we're not at home? Unfortunately both he and the photographer are too proud to tell.

That's hilarious!

Too cute! We've been tempted to set up a webcam on the dogs to see what they are up to when we're not around. Mr. Darcy looks so regal! I also read Pride and Prejudice once a year. It's the best!

In our old house we would come home and find the bath mat from the guest bath in the entry. I was home alone reading quietly one day when our 50 lb. English Pointer jumped up on the bathroom counter, looked at herself in the mirror for a while, then hopped down and deposited the bath mat in the hall. It's a whole other world when they are home alone I fear.

Shani, I imagine if I set up a nanny-cam for my cats, all I'd find out is that they have about five minutes of activity and a whole day of sleep!

Patricia, that is too funny. I also will occasionally catch Mr. Darcy just staring at himself in a full-length mirror. So he is a little vain...

Off topic, I think I see some very pretty silver in the corner. Excited that a photographer was there.

Courtney, I should have known a silver tea service would never get by you. A little corner of my house might show up every now and then in a small decorating story and such, but I'd never show the whole house...I'd feel too self conscious...and it wouldn't pass muster!

Karen, you need to have an artist paint this as a portrait. He is too cute! Definitely takes after his namesake.

How perfect is he? He belongs in pictures.
